Great tips for budget backpack travelers

Travel used to be cheap, but these days, travel has become a luxury for most tourists.  With the increase in oil prices worldwide, transport costs have also skyrocketed. Likewise, most tourist establishments such as hotels and lodging houses have increased their fees, making it more costly for an average guy to travel. The increased costs involved in travel has become more noticeable with government figures showing more domestic trips compared to international flights, as Americans are making themselves  content with local travel instead of going abroad.

However, what most travelers do not realize is that traveling can be cheap, as long as it is planned carefully. Travel expenses can be minimized, as long as there is proper preparation.  Also, going on a budget travel does not mean having a less exciting travel experience. Most travelers think cutting their travel expenses mean foregoing some of the more exciting sights and experience on the road. Budget travel can provide the same travel experience, at a lesser price.

Here are some tips for those wanting to go on an exciting travel but are impeded by their budget.

First, try to take buses and trains that have overnight trips. This way, you can cut not just on expenses but also time. By traveling overnight, you can save a lot of hours traveling, as it is usually faster to travel at night than during the day.  Second, one can cut on expenses by traveling at night since there is no need to spend a night at a hotel. By traveling overnight, a traveler instantaneously covers the same distance at a shorter time, and at a more affordable cost.

Contrary to popular opinion, there are many trains and buses that travel overnight in many parts of the world. For example, there are a lot of trains that travel overnight in Thailand and India. These trains are also quite comfortable. Imagine the experience you will have waking up and seeing the beautiful sunrise in India on board a speedy ride. This is one experience that you can have without having to shell too much money. However, keep in mind too that not all trains and buses that travel overnight are cheap. For instance, most buses and trains that travel in Spain charge high fees, so be sure to check prices first before trying out these options.

Another tip for those going on budget travel is to book at hotels that have extra services such as complimentary breakfast, airport pickup and walking tours. This way, one can instantly cut on expenses like breakfast and transportation costs in going to and from the airport.  Likewise, it would be wise for any traveler who's on a budget to stay away from popular hotels since chances are, these establishments charge high fees.

Another tip to remember is to book locally. This way, you are freeing yourself from extra charges from online booking websites and travel agencies. Likewise, local hotels and inns have people who are more knowledgeable about the place you are visiting.

These are some  of the useful tips you should remember while going on a budget travel. Remember, you can always have a good and enjoyable travel without having to spend much.
